How do you fine tune an audience to get the best results and the best data that's most applicable to the work you're doing in a SparkToro audience research report? Let me give you an example. A friend of mine is writing a fantasy book.
One way that she could research this particular audience is to go very broad and say, I'm looking for fantasy book fans. I've run this audience. It's a giant audience of twenty three to thirty three million people in the United States.
It's a growing audience. You can see there's the breakdown of gender and age, interestingly becoming more women over time. It used to be very male centric.
Then you can see the most and least used social networks. I can see search and AI tools. This data might be quite useful to our friend, but my suspicion is that she will get even more value if she breaks it down and fine tunes that audience into something that's gonna be particularly applicable for each of the tactical things she wants to do.
For example, she was discussing doing a promotional trip to New Zealand to visit the Lord of the Rings filming sites, which I was like, I think that's a great idea. It'll make for great social media content, which was her intent. So here you go.
I searched for the audience of fifty plus year old female fans of the Lord of the Rings with significant income seeking to travel New Zealand and visit the filming sites. Well, that particular campaign and the promotion of that campaign, press and media that she could do, social media stuff that she can do, all of that. That audience, very tiny, right, comparatively, maybe fifty to seventy thousand versus the tens of millions.
So less than one one thousandth of the size. But this audience looks way more hyper relevant to that specific tactic. I don't know if she's gonna execute on that tactic, but for every tactic that you might be thinking about executing on, every strategy, every piece of content that you're going to do, every promotional campaign, every launch, my suggestion would be to niche down and fine tune.
You can see what I did here. You can fine tune on a whole bunch of vectors. I fine tuned on behavior.
I fine tuned on demographics. I said fifty plus and female. Income, I said, I want significant income or net worth because these people have to be able to afford to travel from the United States to New Zealand, which is a long expensive flight.
And I want interest data, behavioral data, meaning they're fans of the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings trilogy that was filmed in New Zealand famously. That data, whether it's demographic or behavioral or interest, that's what you can use to really fine tune and upgrade an audience analysis like fantasy book fans into something that is specific and relevant to a tactical plan.
