The market size estimate at the top of a report (Total Addressable Market, or TAM) comes from SparkToro's own dataset run through a prompting system we built to turn those signals into a size estimate for the specific audience you described.
Where the number comes from
- Data sources. The estimate is grounded in SparkToro's own data: public LinkedIn profiles, social crawls, and anonymized, aggregated clickstream panel data. These are the same public and aggregated signals that power the rest of your report.
- The prompting system. We feed those real signals into a system we built to convert them into a size estimate for the exact audience you described.
The combination is the important part. Feeding real SparkToro data to the model produces far better numbers than a raw LLM prompt on its own, especially for niche B2B audiences.
See the reasoning for your report
Every report shows a methodology breakdown right next to the number, so you can see the reasoning behind that particular estimate rather than a generic formula. Read it alongside the number to understand how we arrived at it for your specific audience.
How to use it
It is an estimate, not a precise market study, so it works best directionally and for comparing one audience against another. If you run a report on a market you know well and the number looks wildly off, please tell us at support@sparktoro.com. That feedback is exactly what we are after.
For more on the underlying data, see how SparkToro finds its data, and our accuracy and bias article covers the sampling caveats that apply across the whole report.
